Job Description

Our client a 5* Resort in the Caribbean is currently looking for an experienced Director of Finance for their team. The Director of Finance will lead the Finance department and associated operations such that account management, reporting, and interdepartmental and vendor relations are managed to optimise the hotels profitability.

The Director of Finance will ensure that Finance teams are providing month end closing and all other required management reports. Work with the Finance Managers/General/Hotel Manager to provide full and accurate forecasting and budgeting proposals within the hotel. Prepare capital reviews as required by the General/Hotel Manager and/or Accounting and Finance Departments. Develop best practice financial accounting and control procedures and continually review the process and procedures to maximise impact and efficiency. Ensure the balance sheets are a fair reflection of the assets and liabilities of the hotels. Lead monthly finance update meetings with General Manager/Hotel team. Assist Heads of the Department to improve their financial awareness and provide them with relevant financial information for their operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures
• Act as a business partner to the General Manager & Hotel Executive Committee.
• Recommend to the management major economic objectives and policies for Hotel.
• Provide effective leadership of the Finance team in relation to goal setting, development etc.
• Negotiate and monitor contracts with hotel’s vendors.
• Ensure correct & timely preparation of all finance reports to trial balance including month end closing
• Performing Peer Reviews as requested and auctioning any resolutions required from peer reviews received.
• Ensure preparation of annual financial budgets & monthly forecasts.
• Manage all capital spending in the hotel
• Ensure all licenses are up to date
• Ensure strong Owner Relations are maintained and respond to owner requests as required.
• Ensure all insurance policies are in place and current
• Ensure the collection and payment of any taxes
• Manage hotel Credit meetings
• Manage External & internal audits

REQUIREMENTS

• University Degree
• At least 10 years experience as Director of Finance/Financial Controller in a large hotel.
• Previous US, International or Caribbean experience preferred but not mandatory
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English at a high level.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
• Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Must be able to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, SAP, and other applicable computer systems. Budgetary analysis capabilities required.
